A Homey Taste to Relish: Girl Scout Cookies

Rhonda
One thing that the Girl Scouts can proudly say for sure as their achievement is the mark of Cookies that they have given us. The cookies which often were associated with the commercial aroma, that every one of them had, gave it more a humdrum flavor. A girl's scout camp came up with the innovative idea for raising funds in 1917, and gave a completely new flavor of cookies for us. We have known Girl Scout Cookies being sold in various outlets, but it is those that are sold by the girls themselves to their friends, foes and neighbors that offers the true taste of it.

The Social Impact:

The sale of home made cookies aimed at raising funds from the neighborhood for the organization itself resulted in huge popularity for the scheme, and was more socially adopted. Soon the magazines went on giving tips for the Girl Scout teams with cookie recipes. As a matter of fact, there were recognitions that other different variety of the Girl Scout Cookies got. Now we have an array of different cookies ranging from the thin mints, the popular trefoils to the tagalongs. The commercial variety that they have become, the Scout organization now licenses bakers every year to produce up to eight flavors of the cookies.

The other side:

With the recent developments, more emphasis is given to the girls who are actually selling cookies at door step. There are also websites set up and the accessibility to these homey products is easier with demands from both within the country and outside. The price tag that you associate with these homely products is reasonable which makes it more attractive.

Girl Scout Cookies - More a cultural factor:

The concept is more a common term and is the one that we are reminded of when Girl Scouts are talked about. You can see the impact in the films; take 'The pacifier' or the 'Scooby Doo 2' and the series like friends. With the increasing popularity there is more emphasis on the health factor too and the Girl Scout organizations themselves say of it, as they do have their "healthy living" principle. They are more fat -free and healthier cookies.

We see the unique taste and the non- commercial flavor in these products and the thing that its all for the children's development in some sense gets us closer to such products. Also, they are just cookies, So have your limits!
