A Hug from the Bride and a Kiss from the Groom

Providing Wedding Favors to your guest can become expensive if you purchase pre-made favors. Taking the time to make your own will allow you to save money as well as personalize your gifts. Following these quick and easy steps will provide something unique to give your guests as they leave your ceremony and head for the reception.

Step 1: Gather your supplies. You will need the following items: A few sheets of card stock, enough tulle circles to make a favor for each guest, some thin ribbon in the colors of your wedding theme, a set of pinking shears, a hole punch, and a couple of bags of Hershey's Kisses and Hershey's Hugs.

Step 2: Using your word processing program on your computer set the format for columns so that you can maximize your card stock. I would recommend a maximum of three columns. Type the following

A Hug from the Bride,
A Kiss from the Groom
Go on to the reception,
we will be there soon!

Under this you will type the Bride and Groom's names as well as your wedding date. Try this with several different fonts and sizes until you find something that you like. Also change the color to reflect the colors of your wedding. Copy and paste this several times until you have enough to fill one sheet of paper. Print several sheets of this onto the card stock. You will want to have enough so that every guest gets a favor.

Step 2: Using pinking shears or scrap-booking scissors cut the card stock printed phrases into squares. Be sure to leave about a ¼ -½ inch on each side of the wording.

Step 3: Using a hole punch, punch a hole in the top left corner of the printed card stock squares.

Step 4: Cut the ribbon into six inch lengths and string one piece of the ribbon through the hole punched in the card stock

Step 4: Place one Hershey's Hug and one Hershey's Kiss in the middle of each tulle circle. Tulle circles can be purchased at your local craft store or online and are available in many colors and sizes.

Step 5: Gather the edges of the tulle square and secure them closed with the ribbon.

Step 6: Place your completed favors in a basket near the back of the church where they can be handed out to guests as they exit the building.

While these favors may not be extravagant, they are personalized and will give your guests something to take away from your wedding. Since I married three years ago many of my friends have asked me about an inexpensive favor they could give their guests. I always recommend these Hug and Kiss from the Bride and Groom Favors.
