A Job Search Website for the Older Employee

Melvin Richardson
Here is a website designed to help the older worker find employment. Once you reach a certain age it can be a little more difficult to find employment. Sometimes employers will actually discriminate against you and of course that type of thing can be very difficult to prove.

There is a great need to have older workers remain in the workforce because of the knowledge, wisdom, experience, and skill sets that they bring to the table. More mature workers can serve as mentors and coaches to younger workers by showing them the ropes. Older workers can help younger workers adjust and adapt to the work place and they can help them understand policies and procedures better.

A variety of job opportunities are available for those looking for part time or full time jobs.

This website is www.nowcc.org. and it has two programs which allow workers who are at least 55 years old find employment through two programs. The first program is the Senior Environmental Employee (SEE) Program along with the Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program. Most of the workers have talents and ability which runs the gamut from clerical to scientific. In their roles they have the opportunity to help the EPA as it performs it duties in pollution control.

The other program, (ACES), allows workers 55 years of age and beyond the opportunity to apply. As a worker with this program you will help out with environment conversation and resource maintenance.

You can be included in these programs if you are unemployed and haven't quite reached the retirement age. It's also open to those who have retired but still need to work because they need to supplement their income. Once accepted into the program a participant has a one year term which can be renewed annually. After renewal participants receive a fifty-cent per hour pay increase. The increases continue until a maximum is reached.

Every participant has a monitor who will assist them with a number of responsibilities including explaining tasks, establishing schedules, and approving overtime. The monitor will also help with a number of other duties and responsibilities that allow the worker to become completely acclimated to the position and the organization.

This is the type of job that allows a more mature worker to flourish in. It's a great work environment and it's also a good place to put your talents and abilities to work in a positive manner.
