A Journey to Romance - A Valentine's Gift Anyone Can Make
Taking the Love Letter in a Bottle to a Whole Different Realm(s) of Possibility.
The first step in any good craft project is to gather all of your supplies.
For this project you will need:
A glass bottle with the label taken off (an empty, well cleaned wine bottle works well for this)
Several pieces of copy paper
A tea bag
Vinegar
Calligraphy Pen (and someone with great handwriting or calligraphy skills)
Ribbon
An online translation program like: Yahoo! Babel Fish
Using your online translator, find several different translations for "I Love You".
For example:
我爱你 - Chinese
Ik houd van u - Dutch
Je t'aime - French
Ich liebe dich - German
Σ' αγαπώ - Greek
Ti amo - Italian
私は愛する - Japanese
사랑해요 - Korean
Eu te amo - Portuguese
Я тебя люблю - Russian
Te amo - Spanish
I Love You - English
(Please forgive me if any of the translations are incorrect).
Cut out each individual slip of paper.
On a whole sheet, write about your adventures walking along the Great Wall of China, searching through the tulips of the Netherlands, climbing to the top of the Eifel Tower in France, walking from East to West through the Brandenburg Gate, swimming around the islands of Greece, doing epic battle at the Colloseum in Italy, meditating at shrines in Japan, passing through the Namdaemun gate in Korea, praying at the churches of São João del Re, marching in the Red Square in Moscow, watching the hours pass at Big Ben in London, and the climbing Aztec ruins in Mexico. Write about how going to all of these places, all you wanted to find was the most important truth, and that you found this truth. It is now located in this bottle. (Use your own words, and your own experiences in this letter).
Allow the ink on the paper to dry thoroughly!
Liberally paint the paper with vinegar using the tea bag as a brush.
Bake the paper in a 200 degree oven on a non stick cookie sheet, just until the paper is dry.
Place the slips of paper into the bottle, re cork the bottle (seal it in wax if you would like).
Wrap the bottle with the story you have written, and tie ribbon around it to seal it.
Give the gift of love to your loved one.
