A Knock at the Door

Sondra C
I sat in the house reading
the cat was under the bed
it was quiet
I was alone
when suddenly I heard a knock at the door.

I got up from my reclining chair
and put the book on the table
I walked to the door
and asked
"Who is it"?

There was silence for moment
and I waited
then I heard
a voice reply
"Open the door it's ''me"

I have been waiting for you, I replied
I wondered where you had gone to
I have been 'here' the voice replied
that sounds great,

I paused and asked, where is "here?"
The voice waited a moment
there was silence at the door
and then I heard a response

I have been 'over there'
You knew I was going
I told you
Don't you remember?

Oh yes, I replied
now that I think of it
you did mention something about
moving ''there".

I stopped for a moment
and gave it some thought!

Someone had come to my door
a stranger called 'me'
who is ,here', has been 'over there',
and also 'there',
I have not the foggiest idea
who it is.

I said goodbye through
the locked door
I waited until I heard
him leave

I walked back to my chair,
picked up my book
and resumed reading it.

I had no idea who had knocked on my door
and I never found out
who it was
I think he knocked at the wrong door

Source: My own imagination. This did not actually happen to me. I had a writers block and could not think of a thing to write about that was new and fresh. So I wrote the first thing I thought of - it was silly and made me laugh. I hope you laugh as well

I sat at my computer and could not think of something to write. All of a sudden I started laughing at the words that came out . I wrote and edited it and sent it out for all to read. Call it a 'Silly Poem', it took away the boredom of being alone.
