Now, take your index finger and touch your forehead between and above your brows. This is your Third Eye. The skeptic club can call it the pineal gland. Either way, this is regarded in many cultures as the "seat of the soul," and this, not your two eyes, is what you're going to use to see someone's aura.
- Find someone to be your guinea pig to be stared at. Tell them what you're doing so they don't get uncomfortable.
- Have them sit still, preferably against a featureless background. Patterns behind the person such as wallpaper may influence what you see, so let's cut the noise.
- Face them and look at them, but don't focus on anything in particular. Some people suggest gazing at the person's Third Eye, but this can be tiring. Just naturally let your eyes roam where they will.
- Place your consciousness in your Third Eye. Do this by imagining that you're breathing through it. Let yourself slip into a meditative state.
- Take notice of impressions of color, the first fleeting ideas of color that come to mind. Don't dismiss their brevity in your awareness; his is what you're looking for.
These impressions might not last long for beginners, but they're the most accurate. These are true energies that you sense when you're not trying, and often they don't last long because once we see then, we try too hard to hold onto them. Colors you see when you're not relaxed may be the negative photo effect that happens when you stare at something too long. Not what we want. With time, your ability to retain that subconscious state of sight will increase, and you'll get more than short impressions of color. Now release your guinea pig. Go over this list with them and discuss meanings.
RED - Passion and inner power. Relates to the Root Chakra, pertains to physical, earthly matters
ORANGE - Sensuality and creativity. Vitality. Relates to the Sacral Chakra and reproductive organs
YELLOW - Intellect and freedom. Relates to the Solar Plexus Chakra, stands for awakening and inspiration
GREEN - Healing and gentleness. Relates to the Heart Chakra, kindness and communication
TURQUOISE - A combination of Yellow, Blue and Green, indicating a dramatic personal shift
BLUE - Nobility and honor, the search for the truth. Relates to the Throat Chakra.
INDIGO - Intuitive awareness. Relates to the Third Eye Chakra and to higher consciousness
PURPLE - Spirituality and visionary awareness of the esoteric. Relates to the Crown Chakra.
PINK - Love and openness, compassion and artistic thought.
This isn't an extensive guide because in my opinion, too much information is distracting. The most important thing you need to do is to relax, and trust in what you see. It's not going to help to sit there and wonder whether you're doing it right. The complicated stuff, like the motion, or size, or form of the aura will matter more when you've got a good technique down. And keep in mind that the color meanings I have here are meant to be guides, not rules. More important is what you feel when you see that color. Happy emanating!
