A Led Zeppelin Reunion?

Mike Bronson
Lately, Led Zeppelin fans have had a lot to be excited about. With the announcement of their very own 150 foot tall roller coaster just a few weeks ago and the release of concert dvd's and live material in digital formats, we have not been left bored with the band. However, one thing that we have not seen yet is the much discussed and debated reunion tour. Will we ever see Zeppelin live again? There is no way to know for sure yet, but I am guessing we will get the chance to see them play live at least one more time.

We all know that the three remaining members of Led Zeppelin are very protective of their music. They do not want their artistic works cheapened or commercialized in anyway. Because of this, the announcement of "Led Zeppelin: The Ride" in the upcoming Hard Rock park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina came as an unpleasant surprise to many Zep Heads.

Many argue that this commercialization is much worse than simply allowing their music to be sold on online music stores such as iTunes (their reasoning behind this apparently is that their albums are meant to be listened to as a collective piece, not as individual tracks). However, I would have to disagree. The band members have had a lot of creative input in the ride design process and if such notorious critics approve of the attraction, I will have to take their word for it and believe the ride will not be a cheesy marketing gimmick.

Since Zeppelin broke up after the death of drummer John Bonham, fans around the world have been hoping for a worldwide reunion tour. Are we getting close to this much-anticipated concert series? Could all the signs be coming together?

Guitarist Jimmy Page was quoted as saying that Zeppelin fans have something coming in 2007. Bassist John Paul Jones was apparently quoted as saying that a reunion tour maybe be coming some time in the next couple of years. Perhaps the ride is a way to gain interest in the band again. Sponsoring their own ride is not something fans would have expected at all. Maybe this loosening of song rights is foreshadowing a tour. The diseased drummer John Bonham does have a son who could carry on the legend (the band has cited one cause of no reunion being that they do not want to disrespect Bonham by replacing him, but his son would be the perfect person to fill in). Official talk about a tour has remained to be seen but hopefully we will hear something in the near future. There are millions of people from all different generations and backgrounds who would be dying to see the band play one last time.

Who will Led Zeppelin have as an opening act on their 2008 US tour???
The rumors have finally been silenced: Plant has personally tapped his illegitimate son's band--MEAN VENUS--to open all 2008 shows.
MEAN VENUS' lead singer, J, when recently interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine, spoke of his utter disbelief at the prospect:
"I only found out he [Plant] was my dad a few years ago.
My mum hid it from me for the majority of my life. So to actually be going on the road with my Dad is bloody outrageous!".....

That would be cool if it happened.
