A Letter to God

Terri Deno
Dear God, are you out there?
I have not a clue.
Whether to fight against this feeling,
Or go blindly by,
Doing what everyone says.

Dear God, may I ask this question?
If you're really out there?
Why haven't my eyes come across a sign?
Not anything so great, just a little hint,
To know that you're really there.

Dear God, if I may
Ask of you one request.
I would like for my only wish to be granted.
I would like the simplest of things.
If you can read my mind, it shall not be a lie.

Dear God, I pray to you
If this is what I am meant to have
Why haven't I received?
If faith is the key
Then I am sure that I will never reach my destiny.

Dear God, how do people rely on faith so blindly?
There is not an explanation for me to see
How a person can pray to the stars, believing someone will save them.
I would love to be able to shine in your glory
With a feeling of faith so strong, so warm, so deep.

Dear God, will I ever get my sign?
If I don't, then I can't really know
What it is to have faith
Or to believe in a high being
That may be the only way to save me from myself.
