A Letter from "The Night Stalker"

Richard Ramirez Asks the "Hard Questions"

K. D. Adams
I was bored a couple of months ago and wrote Richard "The Night Stalker" Ramirez a letter just to see what kind of person he is and I'll be damned if he didn't write me back. This is a man who many feel is the most evil serial killer in modern day history. He was convicted of 13 murders he committed in 1984 and 1985. He is currently at San Quentin Prison in California awaiting execution. One thing I will tell you about Ramirez is he is NOT a great conversationalist. He comes across as being "scatter brained "and very child like. Here is the letter he wrote me:

KD,

"Greetings. Reviewed your letter. It takes about 3 weeks to arrive. I used to play drums but wasn't very good. Which are some of your favorite bands? I used to be good at playing billiards. Which are some of your hobbies? Send pictures. I can get ten per envelope. I have a single man room. Listen to the radio and read and write. Do you have your own boat? I could use some stamps. How old are you? What's your average day like? Which are your favorite type movies? I like sci-fi and comedies. That's all for now."

Richard

I will tell you the reason he asked about the drums and the boat is because I gave him a brief bio on myself when I wrote him and mentioned that I was a drummer and liked to vacation at the 1000 Islands. It just seems to me that he can't hold a thought for very long. One thing I've been told is he never discusses he crimes or the fact that he is a Satanist.

I found this letter interesting because he really does want to know about other people and you can tell that he is seriously lonely. Now don't take me wrong, I don't feel sorry for him one bit but it does make him a little more human than the media makes him out to be. I'm not sure if I'll write him again, I might. It's just going to be real hard to figure someone out who can't carry on a normal conversation. Maybe Richard is just not good at expressing himself on paper and can only converse normally in person, I don't know but I'm not going to find out, I promise you.

I've been fascinated by Richard for some time now & shortly before Christmas I finally wrote to him! To my surprise he wrote back a short letter but he also included a questionaire for me to fill in, asking me about various aspects of my life from childhood to my average day,likes/dislikes. He asked for nothing except if i reply to "kindly" send a photo & the questionaire. I've written a reply along with photo's & questionaire. Can't wait to see if he writes back!
