A Letter to Sarah Palin

JR Moreau
Dear Sarah Palin,

Congrats on your well-delivered speech last night. You hammered home your messages of the target audience you wish to reach (certainly not I). Your snappy and quirky mannerisms are cute and very Super Mom 2.0ish and if I was in the middle of a suburban development with a two car garage I'd probably identify with what you're putting out there. The nuances of your "ordinary gal" and "international leader" concepts were fascinating, although all together unbelievable.

Shaking up the congress may be something that is long overdue, as it has continually switched hands between an equally impotent republican and democratic party, but what about the white house? Have you spoken out against your party's leader and his administration in the last 8 years? Or, are you just another war mongering, fact fabricating, impulsive, greedy, right-winger that was either too stubborn or too self denying to impeach the Bush administration or at least denounce his actions? Many Republicans have separated themselves from Bush, but have you?

You don't want to loose the war? You want to defeat "radical extreme Islam?" Maybe you should realize this war was a losing battle from the beginning. A war on lies (exposed lies, none the less) has no honor in it whatsoever, no matter what fantastic dreams McCain may have.

I guess at the end of the day I'm just another pro-choice, equal marriage, social reforming, community organizing (ha!), atheist liberal who will never see eye to eye with what the Republican machine is trying to do. Neither party is perfect, but I've clearly picked my poison Mrs. Palin and it certainly is not you.

From A Blue State with Love,

JR Moreau

Dear J.R.: 2 media grillings for Palin. 84 for Biden. This, alone, tells the tale. Joe Biden was not taken on the ticket because he was "a pretty face." He was selected because of his extensive knowledge of foreign affairs. Biden is not even bringing with him "big" votes from a 'big" state (read Texas, Ohio, etc.). He is merely bringing the knowledge and experience in areas that Republicans criticized Obama for being "weak" in. I question whether charges that the Democratic candidate could ever be as "weak" as "W" when it comes to his world view, given the fact of his upbringing and background, but the GOP wanted more foreign affairs experience, and they have it in Obama and Biden. In McCain and Palen, "McNasty and Barracuda," we have an ill-tempered pair spoiling for a fight who, by their own admission, know "nothing" about the economy, the greatest crisis facing the U.S. today.

Oh, and I gotta add the Mom 2.0 and lack of vitriol sold me too. :-)

JR -- This piece is one of the few anti-Palin pieces I respect. It is not because I'm pro-Palin or b/c I love your comments on my article, but you wrote with heart and honesty, you wrote your conscience -- sans a bunch of empty talking points. You, my dear are someone I can respect and disagree (and agree) with at the same time. Tis a rarity ...;-)

Great article. She should have a copy of this.

good piece. The dust will settle on this crazed woman and hopefully she will go back to Alaska and continue to do damage there instead of to the entire country

Truthfully, JR, I am surprised more WOMEN do not feel as you do. Even those with two car garages who actually spend time with their kids. Are they envious that she does not have to? I was suspicious of Palin's hairstyle for awhile and wondered what she was hiding under the up-do. Now I wonder if the elephants have implanted a robotic brain with talking points. We keep hearing Palin utter the same phrases over and over again... re-runs already after just three weeks of campaigning. I think they need to switch out her software.

Bet you're wrong JR. We'll see in 54 short little days!

    Gotta admire your passion!
