Accessories Were the Life of the Party for 2010 Fall Runway Shows

Every fashion show brings out a culmination of styles for the fashion forward woman or man. Although clothing and makeup tend to be the most talked about on the fashion runway the 2010 Fall shows donned accessories out-of-this world. Jewelry, fur, and shoes made bold appearances on the runways giving zeal to already over-the-top styles.

One of the accessories that happened to pop up all over the fashion runways for Fall 2010 was fur. Fur adorned the necklines of countless versions of the neck warmer. Proenza Schouler's teal tinted black fur neck warmer was one of the hottest on the runway. Chris Benz also used fur on his accessories and his yellow sunshiny mittens would brighten any day. As if the mittens and gloves weren't making big enough statements other designers were making sure to get this luxury material on jackets, trimmed trouser cuffs, coats and more. The hottest fur trend setters were handbags by Mark Jacobs and Oscar de la Renta to name a few. Bags including messenger style, totes and over sized evening clutches were making waves in this sumptuous material.

If the mittens or gloves weren't in fur they could be found in the runway category under "the little black glove." Numerous styles of black gloves were designed for the Fall runway shows but one of the most decadent versions of the little black glove was created by Cushnie et Ochs. This snazzy little number is truly little, not even hitting the wrist and dripping to the fingertips with Swarovski crystals.

Designer Robert Lee Morris pushed the limits with very bold and geometric jewelry for the Donna Karan show. The pieces were large and industrial but very wearable. Hats were also presented on the runways for 2010 but the Go Fug Yourself mini leather ottoman style hat really stood out.

Shoes owned the catwalks in viletto, wood, and tough styles. Tia Cibani at Ports 1961 created a shoe that was two tone with an angular heel. This heel was found on several pair of shoes including boots for the show. Derek Lam took the ordinary cowgirl boot and transformed it into a wooden sole, viletto boot. Tangerine calf-hair only transformed the look even more. Booties strutted down the runways in leather and suede and could be found with laces, buckles and studs. Although some of the designers such as Mark Jacobs and the Olson sisters opted for shorter heels; the mainstay from the past seasons is the hard edged black bootie with skyscraper heels.

I love mittens and gloves. It's so easy to go from classy to fun with them.
