A Look Back on Allen Iverson's Career

Allen Iverson retired this past Wednesday how will he go down in NBA history.

With career averages of 27 points 6 assist 4 rebounds and 2 steals I believe Allen Iverson will go down as one of the best players under 6 foot to ever play in the NBA. For years he was NBA's golden boy one of the best players in the NBA a first ballot hall of famer.

After being drafted at number 1 in one of the deepest drafts in NBA history 96 he started his career as part of the 76ers becoming the face of the franchise. Highlights of his stay in the city of brotherly love were single handedly taking his team to the finals in 01. With no scoring help the Allen Iverson and the rest of the 76ers lost to the Lakers in 5 games. He stayed with the 76ers leading them to the playoffs 4 more times before demanding a trade to the Denver Nuggets where he and Carmelo Anthony became the league highest scoring duo. Despite that he and Carmelo Anthony could not translate that into wins the 06-07 and 07-08 playoffs both times losing in the first round. With the Nuggets in cost saving mode in the 08-09 season Allen Iverson was traded to Detroit for Chancy Billups. Despite the fact that Detroit was winning games before injuries to key players such as Richard Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace, Allen Iverson was blamed for Detroit's losing season their first of the decade.

Unable to sign with a playoff team or contender in the off-season Allen Iverson signed with the Memphis Grizzles and was released after 3 games for wanting to start leaving the media saying that Allen Iverson had too big of an ego and no one would sign him. It turned out to be true leaving Allen Iverson to retire but let me ask you this why should Allen Iverson be a bench player when he is the better player than the player ahead of him? It doesn't make sense look at every single team except the Spurs which players start the best not some second string point thats starting ahead of a future hall of famer. I'm positive that if Allen Iverson got a contract offer from let's say the Boston Celtics where both their guards at this in their careers are better than him I know he wouldn't complain about being a bench player. Now he complain if he wasn't a sixth men but hey he has the right too.

He's a future hall of famer and will go down as one of the best players of his era maybe even better than Kobe Bryant depending how you look at it and remember I said maybe so all you Laker fans don't freak out when I said that Allen Iverson was maybe better than Kobe because once again I said maybe.
