When you get to Bahrain what you will discover is that the cost of living there is actually quite possibly similar to what you are used to experiencing. The cost of living in Bahrain is about the same as it is in most European countries. Before you take that information and decide whether or not Bahrain is the best place for you to move to and take up employment there are some other things to consider that have an impact on the cost of living in Bahrain, namely taxes or the lack there of. In Bahrain you will experience a general lack of taxation. You may not realize it at first but this has a rather significant impact on the cost of items. It especially has a large impact on high dollar items such as automobiles.
Of course there are some things in Bahrain that will seem a bit on the expensive side. For instance housing costs seem to be a bit expensive at times depending on where you are coming from and what you are used to paying for a place to live. Some food items can also get quite pricey, especially if you are restricting your purchases to costly imported food items. The same thing applies to household goods and clothing items that are imported. There are always cheaper locally produced options you can choose instead though.
You will find that the cost of wines and other alcoholic beverages are lower than what you might experience in the United States or the United Kingdom. You will also see that electronic items such as televisions and computers are significantly lower in price due to lower import duties. Utilities are subsidized by the government so they are likely to be less costly than what you are used to paying.
If you are thinking of coming to Bahrain based on a job offer that you may have gotten from a company in Bahrain ask your employer about the cost of living in the country. Typically employers cab offer detailed cost of living figures that will make it easier for you to evaluate the country.
