A Look at the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders

With Photos!

Mom, Apple Pie, Fast Cars and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders are what America is all about to many guys in our country. The beautiful women who accompany America's team are an institution all of their own. This article will cover some of the history of the ladies and also contains some photos of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.

According to their website the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders as we know them today really got their start in 1972. Cowboys General Manager Tex Schramm came up with the idea to really use them to help attract fans. His idea along with Dee Brock ( Cheerleaders Manager) was to use dancers who had the stamina needed to work an entire football game.

They quickly took on a fame of their own with many television appearances as well as entertaining American Servicemen abroad. As a matter of fact they are in much demand internationally as well and often tour foreign countries and market products for various companies. Not to mention work the group has done for various charities over the years. The March of Dimes, Jerry's Kids, United Way and too many to list have all been helped out by the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.

They are so popular and have so many ladies who want to be on the team, that a Television Show called "Making the Team" has appeared on the CMT network. The show is all about making the squad of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. You can click this link to see the many other television shows and magazine covers the team has appeared on.

Many other NFL teams now try to emulate the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders with their own squads of beautiful women. But none have reached the status as the girls with stars on their costumes. As a matter of fact only the Lakers Girls compare to them in fame. And they are in my opinion not as popular as the girls from Texas. I could not find out how many posters they have sold over the years but I bet it is a rather large number.

Being part of America's team is part of their draw. Fans of this team live throughout the country as do haters of the Cowboys. I live in die hard Redskin Country and even their fans don't say anything bad about the cheerleaders. They are a much loved (by guys anyway) icon of Americana and probably always will be.
