Are these types of diets really effective for losing and are they really safe? Let's take a further look into what fat burning soup diets are and if they can really work.

As mentioned there are several different diet plans and recipes for fat burning soup. The cabbage soup diet, which gained its popularity in the 1980's, is one of the most known soup diets. The soup is made from bullion (chicken, beef or vegetable) and of course has cooked cabbage in it. Some recipes for diet cabbage soup also have things like tomatoes, celery, onions, and parsley in it as well.

Another name that this diet has been called is the Dolly Parton diet soup. This soup recipe usually has a few more ingredients and vegetables such as green pepper, mushrooms, and Lipton onion soup mix. If you Google fat burning soup recipe you will find hundreds of variations of the recipe.

A Look at a Fat Burning Soup Diet Plan
A fat burning soup diet should only be followed for seven days at a time. Each day of the diet involves incorporating different foods besides the cabbage soup into your menu. Most of the plans tell you that you can eat as much soup as you want as many times a day as you want while some others will limit it to 3-4 bowls a day.

Day 1 of the diet you can eat only fruits (except bananas) with your soup.
Day 2 you can only eat vegetables with your soup.
Day 3 you can eat fruits and vegetables (except bananas and potatoes).
Day 4 consist of bananas (up to 8) and skim milk (up to 8 glasses)
Day 5 you can add up to 20 ounces of skinless chicken, lean beef, or fish as well as up to 6 tomatoes. It is also required that you drink 8 glasses of water and have at least 1 bowl of fat burning soup.
Day 6 is 20 ounces of beef, chicken or fish as well as all vegetables. Eight glasses of water is once again required.
Day 7 is the last day of the diet and you can eat brown rice, any vegetables, and unsweetened fruit juice.

Are Fat Burning Soup Diets Safe and Effective?
The most important thing that people have to realize when it comes to losing weight is it needs to be a lifestyle change and not just a quick fix. These fat burning soup diets don't teach you how to eat a healthy and balanced diet everyday of your life so that you can not only lose weight but keep that weight off as well.

Also, the reason why people do lose weight on these "quick fix" diets is because they are cutting back their calorie intake dramatically. You will find that while following this diet you will consume less than 1,000 - 12000 calories, which means that these are considered starvation diets. This is most likely why it is not recommended you stay on these diets for more than 7 days at a time because your body will go into starvation mode and it will actually start holding onto the fat because it thinks there is a shortage of food coming.

Even though the cabbage soup diet or other fat burning soup diets may be able to help you lose those 5 pounds so you can fit into a dress better or look better in a bathing suit for your vacation the diet is not worth the risk it poses on your body. It is not a healthy diet at all. You may also find that once you go back to eating normal the weigt you did lose comes right back and potentially brings a couple extra pounds along.

To lose weight you must eat a balanced, healthy diet that provides you with nutrients and vitamins your body needs to survive. Most doctors recommend not consuming less than 1,000-1,2000 calories a day as this calorie deficit along with regular exercise is the perfect balance to losing weight and getting in the habit of changing your lifestyle to maintain your healthy ways.
