Spotlight on a few of the 2010 Emmy Awards nominations and picks:
Thursday, July 8, 2010, Joel McHale and Sophia Vergara announced the nominations for the 62nd Primetime Emmy Award Ceremony. You may know Joel McHale from his hit E! show The Soup and Sophia Vergara from the ABC comedy Modern Family. A few of the nominaitons announced included:
Outstanding Reality Program: The nominees are Antiques Roadshow on PBS, Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel, Undercover Boss on CBS, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List on Bravo, Dirty Jobs on the Discovery Channel, and Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution on ABC. Taking a look at these nominees, Undercover Boss had a great concept, especially in a recession. However, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List has won two previous Emmys and has the exposure to win again, making this show the one to beat. Longshot Emmy winner: Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution.
Outstanding Reality - Competition Program: The nominees are American Idol on FOX, Dancing With the Stars on ABC, Amazing Race on CBS, Project Runway now on Lifetime, and Top Chef on Bravo. This is a tough category to choose because each of these shows has had several seasons and can often seem repetitive or overrated. However,Amazing Race is well liked by the voting group and is the likely Emmy winner. Longshot Emmy winner: Top Chef .
Outstanding Drama Series: The nominees are True Blood on HBO, Dexter on Showtime, Mad Men on AMC, The Good Wife on CBS, Breaking Bad on AMC, and Lost on ABC. In this category, two shows stand out: True Blood and Lost. Lost has always been a favorite, but with all the hype of vampires this season, this category may just be a toss-up. With Lost no longer on the air, the sentimental Emmy goes to them. Longshot Emmy winner: Breaking Bad.
Outstanding Comedy Series: The nominees are Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO,Modern Family on ABC, The Office on NBC, 30 Rock on NBC, Nurse Jackie on Showtime, and Glee on FOX. Garnering 14 Emmy nominations, award watchers will see a number of statues going to Glee including this one. Longshot Emmy award: Nurse Jackie.
