Honestly, I've been a bit disappointed with Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer. I much prefer Call of Duty 4 and even World At War's multiplayer. In my opinion Free For all is a lot better than any of the team games. I use the standard UAV(3) Predator Missile(5) and Attack Helicopter(7) kill streaks because I feel that chopper gunner and AC130 are overpowered. I get no satisfaction out of mowing down 15 guys in a chopper gunner. It's not fun. I'd rather use my gun and get in on the action. I've been trying to many different ways to make this game more fun for me including going knife only. If you find that you aren't having enough fun playing the team games, choosing Free For All is a step in the right direction.
In Free For All, the lower kill streak rewards are a lot more useful because you don't have the luxury of support from your teammates. The reason I like free for all is because it reminds me a lot of COD4. The air support is not overpowered both ways. A big problem in this game is that I'm really impatient. In COD4, you can run around pretty easily, but unless you're playing absolutely terrible players, you won't be able to perform consistently. The best way to keep your kill to death ratio low is to avoid running out into the open.
The assault rifles are extremely dominant and if you don't choose an assault rifle, you're gimping yourselves because they're good at everything. Free for all seems to be the most consistent game mode. You can't really play a lone wolf style in any of the team modes so free for all is really refreshing. The M93 Raffica is ridiculous. It's probably up there with the akimbo 1887's as far as an overpowered sidearm go.
Now on to some tips for free for all. I see a lot of people using heartbeat sensor in free for all. I noticed that you become too dependent on it and lots of people are using ninja these days to counteract it. I wouldn't recommend it because you tend to look at the radar and not listen for footsteps or check your surroundings. In Free For All, I would move carefully if you choose to move and be wary of flanks. Also, try to stick to a limited portion of the map and make it your own. I don't think of it as camping and it is the easiest way to rack up kills and to rank up. For Free For All, I use any silenced assault rifle with either a silenced shotgun or M93. For the perks load out, I use Scavenger Pro, Coldblooded Pro, and Ninja Pro. As mentioned above, my kill streak rewards are UAV, Predator Missile, and Attack Helicopter. Remember, having fun comes along with getting a high KD ratio.
