A Look at Motorola's Droid Pro Smartphone by Verizon: "Droid Does" Business-Finally
Does it Do Business Better Than BlackBerry?
Many are wondering if the company can do it again with this newest Droid Pro edition, especially since this one is poised to wipe out BlackBerry and its dedicated business users. So far, the situation looks promising for Blackberry users wishing they could switch but until now had no feasible alternative. Here is a peak at the new Droid Pro slated for Verizon.
Business and Casual users Rejoice
This Droid features everything both business and casual users want in a single, sleek-looking smartphone. Not only does it offer the casual users the perfect blend of functionality and enhanced social networking features, but it offers the business world something more to grab on to-besides the BlackBerry. Some of the Droid Pro's best business features include Android 2.2 (Froyo) and its updated business support. Google has purposely stepped up their business game giving Android 2.2 added Microsoft Exchange support, Global address listings, much-needed improved security features, messaging for "out of office" users, meetings scheduler, meeting rescheduling and group support come in addition to the usual Android functionality and open platform.
The best features for the casual user include its massive social networking overhaul and all the Google services a user could ever want. Droid Pro also has a great video recorder that takes video at 720 pixels by 480 pixels at 30 frames per second, which makes for great playback. It also has a music player and, of course, all the games and apps a user could want downloaded from the Android Market. Also included is a 5-megapixel camera with digital zoom and dual LED flashes. Users can also tag photos before uploading them to their favorite social network using the built-in image editing. The best thing about Android is that it is Flash enabled and the Droid Pro includes Adobe Flash Player 10.
Other Features and Connectivity
The connectivity is typical of Verizon; offering US users EVDO-REV A 3G and international users HSDPA with speeds of up to 10.2 Mbit/s. Also available is GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi with hotspot tethering for up to five devices. Also included is a 1GHz TI OMAP processor that, with Android OS, is lightening fast; 2GB of ROM, 2GB microSD storage with expansion possible up to 32 GB, and a 1420 mAH battery that promises up to 420 minutes talk time on WCDMA and up to 430 minutes on GSM while standby time is at 320 hours for both.
The Only Droid Pro Downfall
Probably the only downfall of the Droid Pro is its resolution. While its screen size is more than decent at 3.1-inches diagonal, it only offers a 320-pixel by 480-pixel resolution. This is drastically different from other Droid offerings, such as the Droid 2 that offers an 854-pixel by 480-pixel resolution. However, this seems to be Droid Pro's only downfall and if this is truly the case, then overall Droid Pro is slated for massive and widespread success.
Overall, the Motorola Droid Pro looks promising for all who are looking for a better business smartphone, but fear taking the Droid plunge because they are so used to the security that their BlackBerry gives them. Blackberry does make some excellent business smartphones, but they are falling behind, offering the same tired designs and features. Motorola and Verizon, on the other hand, are stepping up their game and enticing new and seasoned business smartphone users everywhere. Those who have yet to take that first "Droid Does" step should seriously consider the Motorola Droid Pro from Verizon.

Since it is a Motorola on Verizon, it will be well supported. Don't expect other Motorola devices to be as good or as well supported on other networks though.
I'm due for an upgrade soon... this might be worth considering. Thanks!
