Port Deposit residents are used to seeing people wander down the picturesque street as they admire the town's historic homes. The town offers a self guided walking tour, which can be accessed on the Port Deposit website. After admiring the town, visitors either picnic by the water or visit one of the town's restaurants.
CM Tugs Pub and Grill provides hearty food and a comfortable family atmosphere. On Wednesday nights, this restaurant offers half price hamburgers. During the summer months, Tugs also offers hand dipped ice cream in the adjoining building. Di' Lorenzo's Pizza and Grill offers a wide range of food at reasonable prices. Many Cecil County residents feel that this restaurant makes the best pizza in the area. If you are in the mood for seafood fare, Backfin Blues provides surf and turf and ice cold beer. The Winchester Tavern Pub and Restaurant offers plenty of local color along with its hearty food. Both Backfin Blues and the Winchester have beautiful on deck dining areas overlooking the Susquehanna River. Finally, for fine dining, you will want to visit the Union Hotel Colonial Restaurant, where waitresses serve exceptional food in period costumes.
Entertainment in Port Deposit includes the annual American Power Boat Association's Inboard Race, an annual Candlelight Tour, the annual Spring Thing, the annual Poker Run and Crab Fest, and a Blue Grass Festival. In addition, the Port Deposit Branch of the Cecil County Public Library offers a variety or programs for children and adults.
For families wanting to move to the Port Deposit area, there are several schooling options. Bainbridge Elementary School, the zone elementary school for the area, has a caring and supportive staff that genuinely cares for the students. Light House Christian Academy is a local private school with a good reputation, as does Good Shepherd Catholic School. Rising Sun High School and Perryville High School both serve Port Deposit's older children.
So, whether you would like to get away for the weekend or want to move to a small town on the water, Port Deposit residents will be happy to welcome you to their "Original Mayberry."
