A Lovely Day

William Rehberg
The leaves are blowing outside,
The rain is pouring to the ground.
I am inside, wrapped in a blanket with the one that I love.
What could be a more lovely day, you ask?

A snow-tipped ridge in Aspen?
A sandy beach in the Bahamas?
A ranch in the Midwest?
No, my son.

A candy covered slope in Neverland?
A mild cottage in Europe?
A duck blind in Canada?
A deer hunt in Mexico?
No, my son.

A lovely day is one spent,
Spent with the one you love.
Because nothing is more lovely
Then being loved yourself.

Being loved yourself,
It's like a wildflower.
It blooms for a short time,
But never really shows
It's true self
Until it's allowed
To grow and produce more.

So love for today,
Never let it lead you astray.

Let love lead you
To a place far away,
Where your cares are gone
And nothing is wrong.

A place where you can allow
Yourself to be loved.

And for love,
To truly love you.
