A Man in Idaho Saw the "Mark of the Beast", Amputated and Microwaved His Hand

According to The Associated Press, Saturday, January 5, 2008 in Hayden, Idaho, Kootenai County sheriff's deputies arrived at the mental health unit of Kootenai Medical Center to encounter a man in his mid 20's calmly holding his bandaged arm and his hand in the microwave. Authorities say that the man, who was in protective custody, believed that he saw the biblical "mark of the beast" on his hand. He then used a circular saw to cut the hand off and proceeded to microwave it. After which he decided to call 911.

Sheriff's Captain Ben Wolfinger explained that by the time the deputies arrived, the hand was already a little cooked. The man did take the time to put a tourniquet on his arm and prevented him from bleeding to death. Due to patient confidentiality, it is unknown whether an attempt will be made to reattach the hand.

What kind of mental health unit is this?

According to sources, the man was in protective custody in a mental health unit of a medical center. I'm not sure how many mental health units allow their patients who are in protective custody to have access to a microwave. Which really makes me wonder where he got a circular saw. For those of you who are not familiar with a circular saw, it is a power tool and not very small or quiet.

I remember when I was in a mental health institution, also under protective custody. I wasn't allowed access to a microwave or anything electric. As I recall I wasn't able to have anything and whether I was asleep or not, there was someone in my room every fifteen minutes to check on me.

Due to patient confidentiality I obviously have no admittance to his records, therefore I really don't know the reason why he was admitted. It is just a wonder to me, that in any mental health unit, how someone would be permitted to use a circular saw or any sharp objects. Seeing as how he was stated to be in protective custody, I'm assuming he was admitted. Is the unit that understaffed that a patient using a saw could go unnoticed? After all, it was the one handed man that called 911, not the staff.

What is the biblical "mark of the beast"?

The "mark of the beast" is referenced to throughout the Bible. The most explanatory passage is Revelations 13:16-18. Which in the King James Version of the Bible reads:

"And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."

Another notable passage is taken from Matthew 5:30. Which basically says if there is something unholy about your right hand, then you should cut off. Being better that you only lose your hand to sin and not your entire body. Which may explain why the man came to the conclusion that he should cut off his hand once he saw the "mark."

Is the "mark of the beast" becoming a reality?

Definitely. In progress for who knows how long, brought to the public eye in 2001, and approved in 2004. The new millennium "mark of the beast." Brought to us by VeriChip, a miniaturized, implantable, radio frequency identification device, better known as an RFID. This device can be used for a variety of purposes relating to healthcare and security. About the size of a grain of rice, each chip contains an exclusive certification code. In 2004, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration permitted the RFID for medical information applications. Which allowed VeriChip to make it accessible in the United States. Other uses for the chip are possible now and in the future.
