A Man with a Lazy Eye Watching the Sunset

Alvin Park
There was a boy.
He would always be staring,
Searching,
For something.
An answer.

He would stare into
The night sky
Hoping the moon and stars
Would show, illuminate what he
was looking for.
But the sky was
Blanketed by dark, ominous clouds
Concealing the guidance, the hope.

He would stare at the ground
Hoping a considerate soul
Had written the answer out.
But there were only
Stray papers, broken glass, dead leaves,
Condom wrappers strewn
All over the cold, hard pavement.

He would then stare into
People's eyes
Hoping he could find something
In others' minds and hearts.
But all he found was
Sadness,
All he saw was a
Reflection.

There is a young man.
He continues to stare,
To search,
For something.
An answer.
Perhaps the clouds will melt away
And the ground shall be cleared
And maybe,
Just maybe,
People will open their eyes
And their hearts.
