A Man on a Mountain

Taylor Ramage
A man will surely climb a mount most high
to prove his worth to all his cackling friends.
With hand and foot he aims to reach the sky,
and bravery a virtue he pretends.

A loosened rock is all the forces need
to pull him down among the sharpened stones,
but fear is not enough to make him bleed
however much it seeps into his bones.

Agilely he makes his swift ascent
and he does see his goal is now in sight
but misplaced legs are now so wrongly bent
and now he knows the gravity of fright.

As visions overcome what he can see,
he reaches for the things he cannot be.

Nice sonnet about the tribulations all of us face, everything is a mountain to climb.

Nice imagery. It made me feel as if I were out there on the rocks facing that climb. Excellent work!
