From so long ago
He paved a way
Was turned away from
Here to LA
A man who made a difference
Because of an experience from long
Ago
A promise he only read about
In that good Book of Acts
That experience became his reality
He shared on Azusa St.
Many experienced the same as he
Thank you William Seymour
For paving a way for me
You brought the truth and was turned away
Yes, you were a free man, but left astray
Many didn't believe and sent you away
Oh, but how could they deny the revival on that wonderful day
One day we will meet brother on that beautiful street of gold
Oh the stories we will share about a journey long ago
It started at the Hill of Calvary
Then down Azusa St. in LA
Now right here where I am, and many more between
And along the way
The souls that are saved because of one man's courage, love and hope
That all will see this beautiful truth we know
Yes, brother I thank you for the barriers, broke
The Lord can use anyone, even a freed slave like you
To bring the blessed truth to the hurting and the weak
The thirsty and the meek
To bring the Gospel of peace to all who are hungry
Thank you Brother Seymour, a black man who experienced, so long ago
The same experience that I also know.
