A Manual to Women: Why Women Are Sometimes Late

Ever since the first caveman was dumped by his girlfriend, men have been asking for a manual to women. While I know that this is going to be a monumental task, I am going to give it a try. Now you might be asking if I am qualified to write this. First of all, I am a woman. Second, I have been explaining female behavior to my guy friends for years. Unfortunately, I won't be able to answer all your questions. I probably only have 65 years left on this Earth so just not enough time, but I will try.

First let me start with a disclaimer:

This article doesn't describe every woman. The reasons in this article are very board generalizations. Each woman is different and beautiful because she is different. I know many women who are always ready on time and I know many men who are always running late. I am just answering some of the frequent questions asked by my guy friends to the best of my ability.

So I have decided to tackle the question of why "My girlfriend is never ready when I come to pick her up"�. There are several reasons for this. One is that women have too many jobs in our society. We are supposed to take care of the children, take care of our husband/boyfriend, feed the cat, and LOOK GREAT. The worst part is that women are expected to do all these things at the same time! There is a lot of pressure on woman to look nice and this pressure bears down on us every time we look into the mirror. Some man will say that the pressure to be beautiful is all in our head and not created by society, but that doesn't matter. We feel that it is our job to look beautiful so we have to make sure we are every time we look into the mirror.

The next reason why women are late sometimes is that we don't think like men. Most men think in a very linear way. Point A leads to point B and point C leads to point D. Not all women think like this. We have many jobs in the family, so evolution has designed us to multitask. Unfortunately, sometimes multitasking just leads to distractions. When you are making dinner for the entire week, checking your bank statement for errors, and comforting your friend on IM because she caught her boyfriend cheating on her all at the same time, it is easy to fall behind on getting ready. This men will never change, so stop trying. Also, you are not doing us a favor by trying to get us to think more linearly. Some women are designed like this and some are not. Plus society puts different expectations on us so it doesn't help us to be identical to men.

Another reason why women are sometimes late when our boyfriends come to pick us up is because we have a million more clothing choices than you. We have the boots from Torrid with the four inch heels and we have those really sexy high heel shoes from Payless. Don't even get me started on pants and shirts. Now guys how many options do you have? You have the brown shoes your grandmother got you from Men's Warehouse and the black shoes from Payless. It is just a simple fact. The more options you have the longer it is going to take you to choose.

I hope this helps some guys. Women are not just skinnier men. We are different. Our brains are designed a little different and the world has different expectations of us. Just remember that when you and your significant other are fighting. Just remember that men and women have the same potential, but we just need to be a little patient with each other.
