Philip R. Craig was a college professor and successful mystery writer for over two decades. died May 8, 2007 after a brief battle with cancer . He was 73 years old. Since 1989, he churned out mystery after mystery steadily, one book a year, with the setting always taking place on Martha's Vineyard. The main character and part-time sleuth, J. W. Jackson, was featured for the final time, in this, his last book before his death, "Vineyard Chill."

Craig's final book in the Martha's Vineyard Mystery series is just as exciting as his first book was almost twenty years ago. "Vineyard Chill" delivers all the excitement and thrills as J. W. must help two dear friends out of trouble while trying to help solve the death of a young woman who has been missing for a year!

J. W. is paid a visit by an old buddy, Clay Stockton. Clay needs to disappear on the Vineyard for a while as he is being tracked by two thugs from California who want to kill him and steal two suitcases full of cash that belong to his former boss. Clay has made several attempts to try and reach his boss, Mark Briggs, so that he can deliver the cash to him but Mark isn't returning any phone calls. He seems to have disappeared into thin air. Clay must hide out to stay alive while he and J. W. figure out how to chase Blume and Monroe off the island.

Meanwhile J. W.'s dear friend Bonzo has found a bird's nest made from the hair of the missing girl, Nadine Gibson, while trespassing on private property. Bonzo has become a person of interest to the police when Nadine's body is found in an old farm building on the property of the Marshall Lea Foundation where Bonzo was bird watching. J. W. must find Nadine's real killer before Bonzo becomes more than just a suspect. "Vineyard Chill" is as exciting as its title!
