A Max and Ruby Themed Bedroom for Your Son or Daughter

If you have a preschooler then chances are good that you know about Max and Ruby, that adorable television show that is televised on Nick Jr. Three year old Max is always getting into trouble and his big sister Ruby is always having to bail him out. They have all sorts of adventures together and it allows kids to see how to solve problems in appropriate ways.

Unfortunately, when I decided to design a Max and Ruby bedroom I was not able to find anything on the internet for the bedding set. I was very surprised because lots of other Nickelodeon characters like Dora the Explorer and Diego have entire lines of fashion bedding dedicated to them. Even Yo Gabba Gabba and the Wonderpets have comforter and sheet sets. I was very disappointed but didn't let it stop me. I decided to create my own Max and Ruby comforter sets.

It is easy to create a Max bedroom. Since Max is almost always wearing a pair of denim overalls and a white and red striped shirt I decided to use that as a basis. Denim comforters are easy to find in both full and twin sizes. You might want to go with a more stone washed version than a deep blue shade. Another thing to be aware of is that just like regular blue jean dye can sometimes fade, the dye in the comforters can as well. If you are concerned about this, go ahead and wash it in the machine a couple of times to get rid of excess dye. Some red and white sheets would be reminiscent of Max's shirt. There are several sheet sets online that could be used, especially sheets that are part of nautical themed bedding. Ebay is a great place to look for unopened, new with tags sheet sets. Not only is it a great bargain but you will probably find exactly what you are looking for. A plain white bed skirt and plain white pillows complete the look to recreate "Max".

Ruby might be a little trickier but with some effort it can be done. A ruffled white bed skirt and lacy white pillows evoke thoughts of Ruby, who loves all things girly. If you are diligent, you might be able to find a yellow comforter with small flowers on it to look like Ruby's dress. Otherwise, you can just use a plain pale yellow comforter. Lavender sheets that look like her shirt might be easier to find. You could even switch the combination and use yellow sheets and a lavender comforter if that is easier for you to find.

With a little imagination you can create an entire Max and Ruby suite for your son and/or daughter. This would be especially cute if you have a Jack and Jill bathroom between the two rooms. Kids would love it. I just hope your Max doesn't get into as much trouble as the Max on TV does!
