If you, Mr. Oil Company, were able to think beyond your bank account and your profit margins, you would or should have realized that your greed is killing your profits.
How so? When average Mr. and Ms. America have to pawn/beg/borrow or steal just to be able to fill up from your inflated gas prices, something is very wrong. To keep those jobs that make this country what it is, Mr. & Ms. America have to COMMUTE to work daily on average 5 days a week. Many are finding that paying $3.00+ a gallon to fill their tanks to go to those jobs may not be worth it and are considering other options. Those options you may or may not be aware of or concerned about. You have put forth the belief that there is a shortage of oil and because of that all high prices are validated based on this truth. Some believe differently.
But the pressing issue of how to get to work when a tank of gas is nearly $50.00. (Or, if you have a muscle SUV, more likely almost $100.00!) How long can Mr. and Ms. America contritely submit to such overt piracy? Not indefinitely! With ever spiraling exorbitant gas prices!? Are you betting on straining Mr. & Ms. America's resources past the limits just to increase your 'bottom line' come hell or high water?
Are you confident enough to assume that they will do whatever it takes to keep buying into your 'legalized' robbery of their hard earned money no matter how high you raise the prices? You might want to think again.
We Americans are carved from sturdier stuff and aspire to what this country stands for - freedom. Freedom on every level. Every plane. Ultimate freedom. And that includes freedom from tyranny! And that means tyrannical, greedy, insatiable oil companies who would bring this country to a near standstill just to 'line their pockets'! You say then stop buying the gas? What do you care? Others will keep buying and you'll hardly miss it! Or you tell them just stop driving to work as much. Get a motorcycle or a bike. What do you care! Or, if they are the lucky few, little or no driving at all. They can telecommute now. Or just buy an electric or hybrid vehicle if they still have the job to do so!
But we still have to use ourr Jeeps or other 4x4s, to run errands, buy groceries, etc. (I know, personally, I only go shopping/errand running once a week thereby stretching my little half a tank of gas to last two weeks. Not many people can do that however). That still doesn't make a dent in Mr. Oil Company's Accounts Receivables, does it? Still in the BLACK and grinning from ear to ear! So, what other options does Mr. and Ms. America have?
Take public transportation to work! That only works if you are near public transportation. Some drive and park (Park and Ride) and take the public transit from those huge parking lots. Still, not all can (or choose) to do that. And they still have to put gas in those vehicles every other day to get to the park and back home again. And that's only if they have the program in their town!
Others live 40 to 50 miles (or more) away from work and there is no expedient or active public transportation for those routes. If at all.
Other options: Get a job that is closer. Get a smaller gas efficient car. Get a work from home business. Quit your job and draw unemployment and stay home! Marry or date a wealthy man or woman! Wait! Hold up!
Why deal with the SYMPTOMS when the real issue is the CAUSE?
So, back up - we need to address the CAUSE!
Back to Mr. Oil Company.
What happens when the very high prices you charge effectively kills your profits? What do you do then? Not that WE particularly CARE but you are literally killing the 'goose' that laid the 'golden egg'! That is totally Irrational! Imminently Insane! Insidiously INHUMAN! That is what the public THINKS when talking about Mr. Oil Company.
There has been talk in many quarters of a gas strike or boycott. Many communities have done such but the results were less then stellar. Many couldn't (or wouldn't) adhere to the strike/boycott outlines. Or not enough participants made any real difference in the Gas Station Profits. Mr. Oil Company merely sneered and kept counting his money.
What about banding together to get a gas gouging law passed in an emergency session thru an act of Congress? That entails an incredible number of signatures, man power, time and money (not to mention incredible luck against the ever possible veto) to prepare and submit. There is also the fear factor, trepidation AND that most human of all traits - complacency!
One survey found that gas stations owners have a singular belief - if the public will pay $4.00 a gallon, they will keep charging $4.00 a gallon! This could be the next price hike (if you're not already paying that)! Are you going to keep paying 'thru the nose'?
How much WILL you pay? Is there a 'point of no return' for you? How much is too much? Or will the declaration "I'm sick and tired of this and I won't take it any more!" finally begin to resonate with you?
Then I have the answer. One that anyone can do. That no one can stop. That supercedes all laws, politics, fear or complacency! What is it?
It's called the Power of Prayer. Or Meditation. Take your pick. The day to do this - July 7, 2007. All day. All night.
This is called the Power of Collective Thought or INTENTION. The minds and hearts of every man, woman and child. The one thing no corporate, industrial, political or bank conglomerate will ever have - the Power of HUMAN Mass Thought as ONE. Praying (or meditating) all for the same things.
Pray or meditate for the cessation of rampant corporate greed and corruption. Or the ERADICATION of deliberate loathing for the HUMAN Family. Or the ELIMINATION of industrial profits over HUMAN survival. Or for the healing of the planet. Or for the healing of people. Or the TERMINATION of this war and ALL war. Pray for peace. Pray for Divine Intervention. Pray for Love to replace the 'bottom line'. Pray or meditate for anything positive. Constructive. And loving. But please meditate or pray. Period. On that day. Saturday, July 7, 2007.
No matter where you are (in the hospital, attending a wedding, a funeral, going to camp, having a child, surgery, taking a trip, etc.) just remember pray or meditate on the positive outcome for all your loved ones, your neighbors, co-workers, the town, the city, the county, the state, the country, the world - for all the madness to end! Take back your RESPONSIBILITY for your life and your planet!
You don't believe in the power of prayer? The power of UNIFIED THOUGHT? Doesn't matter one bit! Just do it. Casually. Or with all you heart. It ALL helps.
With one MIND, oneHEART we can all truly do our part to take back control of our lives. Our country. Our world.
On Saturday, July 7, 2007. 07/07/07.
It just may be the most important day of Our lives...
