A New Meat Substitute is Made from Human Poop

Get the Scoop on Human Poop Made into Meat by the Japanese

Say it isn't so? Can this possibly be true? I have read that they actually process waste water in Chicago and turn it into drinking water, which is absolutely ghastly to me but have read that it is true. Are we one step away from turning poop into a meat substitute?

According to yahoo news they are doing exactly that with sewage in Japan. I cannot imagine food being made from human feces. It makes me want to throw up just thinking of it. According to Japanese researchers they say that they have found a way to turn human feces, aka poop, into meat.

They also say that it is safe. They have synthesized meat from proteins found in human excrement and yes, folks they have made it safe to eat.

Now let's see does this give a whole new meaning to the fear of E-Coli? Isn't E-Coli found in meat that makes it poisonous to ingest? Isn't E-Coli from poop that has sneaked it's way into our meat or other foods? I guess I am a little confused here.

Douglas Powell, a professor of food safety at Kansa State University says don't eat poop!" But if you're going to eat it, make sure it's cooked."

I guess the only thing that would be worse than eating meat that has been made from human feces, is to eat it raw! Or maybe you could find a random piece of corn in your delightful poop sandwich.

Japanese researchers have isolated proteins from bacteria in sewage. I feel my mouth watering now! After isolating all of the yukky bacteria from the sewage, they isolate all of the healthy, yummy, basic elements of food, protein, carbohydrates and fats and then recombine them.

This delicious concoction is made from 63 percent proteins, 25 percent carbohydrates, 3 percent lipids and 9 percent minerals according to Digital Trends. They then add to the mix a delicious serving of soy protein to increase the flavor.( To increase the flavor! What is the flavor? Poop flavor?) If that hasn't convinced you of its taste, texture, and nutritional appeal, maybe the delightful dash of red food coloring will convince you to try it. Try it you'll like it!

I would love to see the commercial that they will use to try to sell this human feces that is turned into a delightful meat substitute to get people to be eager to buy and eat it.

This brilliant idea came up because Tokyo Sewage asked researchers to figure out ways to use the abundance of sewage in mud, Digital Trends said.

Call me a girl, call me squeamish, or just call me behind the times, but there is no way that I can see any way in hell that I would try eating a poop sandwich, poop steak or a poop-cycle. I don't care how you doctor it up it is still poop! If you don't believe this is true, just check out the link below.

I like the idea of human poop used as mulch better than directly as food:)
