The very next day, Steve trotted off to the woods, so that he could throw rocks at bears' caves and run as fast as he could in the other direction. After a few minutes of walking through the woods, he had found one. There was a nice rock in his hand that he had picked up at the edge of the woods. One, two, three and he gave it his best shot. He heard "Click, Klack, Klack" and then "ROOOOOAAAAAAAAAAR," and he started running. He would lose the bear near a big boulder up ahead. He knew these woods well. He looked back. It was getting closer. He sped up, but the bear was still faster. It was at his heels now. He tried to dive out of the way but it was no good. The charging bear tackled him and was tearing at him. He was losing consciousness. As his eyes closed themselves he saw the bear get up and run, for no apparent reason.
Steve opened his eyes to see the inside of a cabin. An old man was standing over him with a rag that had what looked like medicine on it. The man smiled and said, "Finally up, sleepy?" Steve responded by asking his location. The man said, "You are still in the woods that you know so well. I am a wise man who lives deep in the heart of these woods. I found you on the ground. That is a good sign. Anyone I happen to meet gets the privelige of asking me one question, which I will answer correctly. So, I would ask you what you want to know, but I must waste your question to tell you something important. It considers your life. There are three men in this cabin right now. Look around and you will see them. One of the men in this room is lying. One of the men in this room is Death. Pick out who Death is and you will live. Get it wrong and Death will murder you. Here is your hint: Death is the unexpected one."
Steve look at the three men. One of them was a big burly man with many scars who looked like he would kill anyone in a second. He must not be it. Next to him there was a rough looking short man who was giving Steve a dirty look. He couldn't be it either. But the third man looked like a kindly one who wouldn't hurt a fly. Steve immediately pointed him out. The old man then laghed and said creepily, "You were warned." The old man than walked towards Steve slowly and placed his hand on Steve's shoulder. Steve slowly blacked out and realized what had just happened.
