A Memorable Snowboarding Holiday

Alex Smith
About a year ago, I went on a snowboarding vacation to Europe with all of my friends and had a great time, on all accounts. The best part about it was that every single one of my friends had varied abilities in the world of sports. Some of my friends had already participated in sports competitions and the like, while others were mere novices on other sports. Ever since we had graduated from high school, none of us really found the time to see each other, with college and work in the way, so we were all really looking forward to this vacation and were determined to enjoy ourselves on our big holiday.

When we first decided to book the holiday, I was extremely delighted to know that we were all able to go on the selected dates and that everyone had promised to save up enough money to really enjoy our holiday. The cost of booking the holiday came up to about $300 for accommodation for the week (we decided on a backpacker's location) and only $150 for return flights. This was a huge bargain and we were even lucky enough to get a discount on our accommodation when we arrived. We each had brought a set amount of a thousand dollars for additional expenses, which meant that we would have more than enough spending money for our personal needs.

With the initial prices ending up much cheaper than expected, some of my friends decided to go online and buy some equipment for the trip, which included brand new snowboards and fashionable clothing. Personally, I really didn't see the need to go shopping, so I decided to save the money instead.

Upon arriving at the slopes, I was more than pleased. Only one of us had actually gotten the opportunity beforehand to snowboard on actual snow, so we were all pretty excited. We all decided to simply separate and do our own thing for our personal amusement and joy, and then meet up again at night. That is not what happened, though. We were all having such a blast together that we simply ended up staying on the slopes together. One of my friends was struggling with the snowboard, so I did my best to teach him how to easily handle the slopes. After a mere few hours, he was already doing well and even managed a couple of ollies. After a long day on the slopes, going home and getting a shower was probably the best idea we ever had. Even when it's not cold, merely getting your clothes wet will become a tiring ordeal and a need for a hot shower and change of clothes.

Next thing we did was go out to see what the night life was like, something we had all been secretly looking forward to, since we had only heard great things about European girls! Beauty aside, we were also ready to get to now a whole new culture, so we decided to all go out for a meal. In the end, we all ended up having burgers and chips. The local club, however, was a good experience and the perfect way to end a great day. This ended up also being the pattern for the rest of the week and although it sounds like a tedious routine, I certainly have no regrets.
