A Memorial Day Poem

Gino Sabato
The fireworks clatter above.
What is this day we all love?
A day off of work.
Beer in the cooler.
The coals are ready for cooking.
But why?
Why do the fireworks light the sky?
For so many brave souls fought and died.
To protect the freedom of those that survive.

My name is Gino, I'm just an ordinary 30 something guy that happens to live in one of the most wonderful places in the world, the mountains of east Tennessee. I love to share stories and pictures of the area.  View profile
