A Memory of Michael

His Death Has Touched Us

The man had a troubled existence which most believe stems from a tortured childhood but those who spent time with him, even though they admit to not knowing, find it hard to believe this man child would harm a child. To a one including but not limited to Geraldo Rivera say this. I don't know either but I don't believe the allegations were true, especially from the last gypsy family who have multiple convictions for fraud, and their story was torn to pieces. But it is who we humans are as a species to always believe the worse.

My personal experience from this day of mourning came from my sons today who called me at the same time, and my younger son and I don't talk that often, and they did not coordinate their calls. They had a memory of a good time when they were kids and we watched Motown's 25th Anniversary Special 26 years ago when my oldest was 15 and his brother 13. Michael introduced the Moon Walk while performing Billie Jean. Me and the boys had a contest which my ex wife judged to see who could Moon Walk the best. She of course chose her baby boy but we all know I blew them both away sliding backward across the kitchen floor. My oldest boy doesn't have a hint of rhythm so he wasn't even in the running. My boys called me and we laughed and talked about those old days for over an hour.

Of course Michael didn't mean anything to some people but for a multitude of others he was a part of their collective history. We also talked about MTV and Michael being the first black video they had ever played. They built that up and everyone was waiting on the premiere of Thriller. The longest and best made video ever produced at that time. My youngest boy began dressing like the characters in the Bad video and I still have a picture of him in full attire and I sent it to the both of them. So it seems as though Michael reached into our household and became a part of our family memories. It might seem silly to some but it is our reality.
Rest In Peace Michael
