A Men's Suit: A Preface

Avery Berman
A men's suit is one the most important and staple pieces of formal wear in a men's wardrobe. Having at least one or two men's suit should be a requirement for every man. It is used when one is required to appear formal, for example a formal dinner party or that dream job interview or pretty much every time you need to appear snappy and worldly. It is necessarily important as it suggests confidence and power once you wear it, as it also conveys taste in fashion and appearance. But it is not enough to wear just any suit; you have to wear what is right for you. You have two choices. Either have it custom-made or buy it off the rack.

A custom-made or tailored suit are individualized and modified in order to attain maximum fit at each man's body type. It might be good because it goes closet to your body, however, it might come at a hefty price. So it is better to know the essentials of a suit to have it made best for you. Off-rack suits, on the other hand, are convenient and won't put a hole in your wallet, as it is cheap. However, you might find difficulty in looking what's best for your shape as it is made based on an average man's frame.

Among the widely used suit jackets is the single-breasted suit. Mostly bannered by most, this type of suit jacket has a set of two to three buttons laid in a straight row. Another common suit jacket used nowadays is the double breasted suit. Commonly worn by old yet classy men, the double breast suit has one front laying over the other. For a more "informal" getup, the sports jacket is the way to go. This particular suit jacket can easily blend with jeans and informal pants.

Knowing the essentials in fashion and comfort helps when you pick the suit, whether you want it tailored or get straight off the racks.
