A Mere Question

Audrey Star Josefek
I merely asked a question
Why must it be this way?
Why does it alwaze end in your
dismissal?

I merely wanted conversation
Why do you question questions?
Why can't you converse in
easy replies?

We merely make great friends
Why must there be a complex side?
How come we can't just
be like others?

I never meant to make it awkward
I only wanted to know your mind!
I only pleaded for a better
understanding!

I merely tried preservation
Why isn't that enough?
Why did things just go from
okay to worse?

I merely asked for an answer
Why do you try to ignore?
Why am I alwaze left with nothing
by asking?

Interesting idea for a poem. As humans we are limited to only understanding our one side, and our own language. The question of whether or not the other person understands our language, and in the same we do, is complicated at best. Anyway, nice work, and welcome to AC!
