A Message of Hope

Easter, Jesus and the Cross

Sharie C
Jesus says to His disciples in the book of John chapter 16:33: "...in this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." To me these words are what Easter is all about. Jesus knew our lives would be touched by sadness, disappointments, struggles and pain. He knew are hearts would ache, but He also knew that because of His death on the cross and resurrection, we could live life with an inner confidence and peace, regardless of discouraging, earthly circumstances.

Easter is a time for us to renew our faith and trust in the unseen power and love of God. There are times when I am so focused on the tangible. The things I can see and touch seem more real to me than God's hand at work in my life. There are always situations that arise in life that seem beyond repair, hopeless, or just downright impossible to fix or change. But nothing is impossible for God. Jesus Christ rising from the dead after three days proves that. God has the power to do abundantly more than we can ask for or imagine in our lives.

I've seen this power at work in my own life, but I forget. I forget the gracious miracles that restore hope and interrupt disappointment, replacing it with joy, because I'm so focused on the next crisis. But, Easter is the perfect time to remember all of God's blessings and unexpected surprises. It gives us the chance to stop focusing on what we don't have but what we already do. Jesus Christ died for us. No matter what happens in life, God has already given us the ultimate gift-the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 4:14-16 explains this wonderful truth: "Therefore since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are -yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."

Even when I am falling apart inside, discouraged, afraid, or things are going totally wrong, I always try to remember the promise and hope of Easter.
Let us always be thankful for His sacrifice for us, and live our lives with confidence, ready to serve and to help when God prompts us, living life fully aware that Jesus did overcome the world and we are deeply loved and cared for.

Wow this is so true and thank you for reminding us of His promise. He knows all of our battles and afflictions. We bring them upon ourself and sometimes others are affected by it. It is so sad. But weeping may endure for the night then joy comes in the morning. Thank God that His mercies are renewed every morning!!
