A Message to Jim Morrison

Laura E. Lassiter
It is night,
and I walk through your door.
I hear the city street rustle behind me, but I leave it alone.
The living room is dark except for a dim light.
I see you.
Looking down at the piano ready to write, but you don't.
Look, I know I'm not "supposed" to be here, in this space, but I am!
I'm years younger than you and "out of the box", I know.
I have your books, both of them, and I'm half way through.
So thank you.

Thank you for being an untamed voice in a straight and narrow minded place
that is this world. Wait, I lied, it's opening, but only a little.
If you can come back, you'd see that it isn't that bad,
there are more of us out there than you think.
The revolution for which you took a stand, isn't dead, it's just waiting to be heard again.
I know you hear me, and that you know what I'm saying.
So thank you, I shall come again,
You have touched me, so thank you.
And I will come again.
