I had one of those nights about three weeks after my first was born. The little fellow needed his diaper changed, so I laid him on the changing table and peeled back the dirty diaper, replacing it with a clean one. I was dabbing on the diaper crème when he turned himself into a fountain, as little boys are wont to do. I quickly pulled the diaper up to minimize the damage, but he still needed an entire outfit change and a new, dry diaper.
A minute or two later, stripped down and wide awake by now, with only a new diaper beneath his little bottom, he let out a warning puff and then began the explosive process of emptying his bowels. Unfortunately, the trajectory did not stay within the scope of the un-pinned diaper, but contaminated anything located lower than his behind.
His daddy and I were wide awake by this point, as I had called for backup after the first mishap. At this point, daddy was highly amused, and left the room doubled over in laughter. If I was doubled over at all, it was not in laughter. Needless to say, daddy got a little bonding time with his son while I put things to rights and had a little recovery time.
