A Million Friends We Have Betrayed

nutuba
When New Years rolls around again

We take our slates and wipe it clean

We tend to think we've got the right

Our dirty pasts to make pristine

But we've hurt others -- pain exists

And screams of agony don't fade

A million wrongs we need to right

A million friends we have betrayed.

There's silence in lives we ignore

The old, the downtrod, and the lame

If for a day we'd take their place

If for a day we'd play their game

Some wrongs we've done we can't amend

Mistakes we've made, hurts that won't heal

But going forward we can change

From superficial hearts to real.
