We've used Huggies, Pampers, Kirkland (Costco's generic brand) and now Luvs diapers on my son. I will be sharing with you everything I've found out about these brands of diapers and the difference in price between all of them. I recommend buying diapers in as large of a package as possible. Usually the more diapers in a package, the lower the price per diaper will be.
I will talk about Huggies Supreme Diapers first. These are the worst diapers in my opinion for my son's hard to fit body. These diapers are more for children who don't have fit issues like my son. In fact, every time I ever used these diapers, they leaked. I think the main reason behind the leaking was because I could never get them to fit him properly. The tape on the diapers didn't stretch well enough to wrap around my son's hips well enough to close the diaper properly. We only used these diapers on my son long enough to use up what was in the package because of this.
Huggies Supreme can be purchased on www.diapers.com in a large package. The Size 1-2 diapers will fit babies from 8-15 pounds. The large case contains 152 diapers for $30.99 which is 20 cents per diaper. The Size 3 diapers will fit babies from 16-28 pounds. The large case contains 116 diapers for $30.99 which is 27 cents per diaper. The Size 4 diapers will fit babies from 22-37 pounds. There are 100 diapers in the large case for $30.99 which is 31 cents per diaper. The Size 5 diapers will fit babies who weigh 27 pounds or more. There are 88 diapers in the large case for $30.99 which is 35 cents per diaper.
Pampers Baby Dry are one of the better brands in my opinion. They have super stretchy tape tabs that make it easy to fit any baby. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, I would rate Pampers a 9 overall, and an 8 for preventing leaks. There have been a few occasions where my son's Pampers have leaked. Most of these times occurred when he was approaching the next size up in his diapers. But, a few times, these leaks occurred because of a malfunction with the diaper. Sometimes, I've found that the tape on the Pampers diapers doesn't stay put and will actually start to slide down the diaper. When this happens, you will have a gap at the top of the diaper which allows urine to leak out.
Pampers Baby Dry diapers can also be purchased on www.diapers.com in various quantities. The Size 1 diapers come in a case of 228 diapers for $37.88 which is 17 cents per diaper. The Size 2 diapers come in a case of 198 diapers for $37.88 which is 19 cents per diaper. The Size 3 diapers come in a case of 180 diapers for $37.88 which is 21 cents per diaper. The Size 4 diapers come in a case of 160 diapers for $37.88 which is 24 cents per diaper. The Size 5 diapers come in a case of 144 diapers for $37.88 which is 26 cents per diaper.
Kirkland Diapers are an excellent choice. I absolutely love everything about the Kirkland Diapers, including the price. These diapers have one of the best stretchy tapes I've ever found. They are absolutely amazing at stopping leaks as well. I've never seen a diaper hold as much as the Kirkland Diapers have. It's truly extraordinary.
Kirkland Diapers are available at Costco Wherehouses and also online at www.costco.com. You do have to be a member of Costco to purchase these diapers. The Size 1-2 diapers come in a large case of 234 diapers for $29.99 which is 13 cents per diaper. The Size 3 diapers come in a large case of 200 diapers for $34.89 which is 17.4 cents per diaper. The Size 4 diapers come in a large case of 184 diapers for $34.89 which is 19 cents per diaper. The Size 5 diapers come in a large case of 160 diapers for $34.89 which is 22 cents per diaper.
Lastly, I will tell you about Luvs Diapers. I just purchased my first package of Luvs last weekend, and I was surprisingly impressed. I have heard very negative things about these diapers in the past and have stayed away from them because of it. But, I recently decided to give them a shot. I first noticed that the outer side of the diaper felt different than other diapers. It actually has a plastic-type exterior which is very different than the other more cotton feeling diapers. I think this plastic exterior is what helps these diapers not to leak. We have used these diapers overnight, and during the day, and have NEVER had a leak. Also, they now feature stretchy sides that allow them to fit better and more snugly on all babies, even my son who is hard to fit.
Luvs are also available on www.diapers.com. The Size 1 diapers come in a large package of 208 diapers for $30.99 which is 15 cents per diaper. The Size 2 diapers come in a large box of 192 diapers for $30.99 which is 16 cents per diaper. The Size 3 diapers come in a large package of 174 diapers for $30.99 which is 18 cents per diaper. The Size 4 diapers come in a large box of 156 diapers for $30.99 which is 20 cents per diaper. The Size 5 diapers come in a large box of 128 diapers for $30.99 which is 24 cents per diaper.
Price wise, Kirkland diapers are the least expensive, followed by Luvs and Pampers with Huggies being the most expensive diapers. I've found that Luvs and Kirkland diapers work best for our family. But, you will need to try them out on your children to find what works best for you. Not every child has the same body type, so not every diaper will fit every child in the same way. Also, make sure if you are not satisfied with the diapers, let the manufacturer know that. Call the 1-800 phone number on the box and voice your complaints. Some companies might even refund your money, if you are not satisfied with their product.

Post a CommentPampers seem to work really well. Do not seem to leak at ALL, But Huggies have a better fit, and seem more comfy....
LOVE Kirkland diapers. Of course, we've never had a problem with ANY diaper leaking through two kids so far, so maybe we're just lucky. Good review!
Good article. For me, the huggies supreme gentle care where the ones that worked the best, never had a leak. But like you said different diapers work best for different babies.
