A Mother's Advice for Her Children

Stella Gage
As a mother of five, I wanted to share some simple advice with my children as they begin to make their own choices and decisions. Growing up is hard and sometimes they tend to lose sight of what really matters. I hope that sharing this will help them stay on track and never forget that a mother's love is unconditional.

Never give up - If you fall, get back up, dust yourself off and try again.

Always hold your head high - Because you are always number one in my book.

Treat others with respect - It's just the right thing to do.

Help everyone you can - One day you may need a helping hand.

Be kind to others - You may be the only person who showed kindness.

Keep a watchful eye on your siblings - No matter what they're your family.

Respect your elders - They are your history. Without them, you wouldn't be here.

Show your appreciation - Giving thanks makes your heart full.

Thank a soldier - It is because of them you able to be free.

Never doubt yourself - You can do anything you set your mind to.

Show your courage when unsure - You might surprise yourself.

Keep dreaming - Because one day your dreams may become a reality.

Bravery becomes you - Fear always needs a kick in the butt.

Don't back down - Stand up for what you believe in.

Leaders are made - Pave the way so that others may follow.

Don't judge - Remember that there are always two sides to every story.

Remain a champion - Fight for those who can't fight for themselves

Be cool - Stay calm when things get rough. You'll be able to see clearly.

Think before you speak - Make sure your words don't hurt another's feelings.

Accept responsibility - Own your actions.

Stay strong - Dig in your heels and stick to your guns.

Pain is temporary - What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, I promise.

Don't get caught up - always remember where you came from.

Say, "I love you." - Don't leave home without doing so.

Never forget - That I will always love you no matter what

To my beautiful children,

May this advice help you on your journey through life. The road ahead may be bumpy and the road may be smooth, but the road will never be straight. Life will take you through twists and turns. And for those twists and turns, may the words I have shared help you shift through them. I will always be your champion and I will never stray from your side. May my love guide you always.
