A Mother's Concern - Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston Engagement

I am by no means a fan of Sarah Palin as a political figure. I don't agree with some of the very controversial political issues she's involved in including the recently newly formed Tea Party Movement that she's a big part of. I am a mother though, just as Sarah Palin is, and totally understand the concerns she may be having over the recent engagement and upcoming marriage of her daughter Bristol Palin to her ex-fiancee Levi Johnston, who himself has been known to be a sometimes very controversial individual.

Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston are both very young and also very immature in many aspects. The two of them and their rocky relationship has been front page news ever since Sarah Palin became John McCain's running mate in the last presidential election approximately 2 years ago. It was revealed at that time that Bristol was pregnant with Levi Johnston's baby. The teenagers weren't married, but were said to be engaged. Bristol Palin, gave birth to their son, who they named Tripp in December 2008. She would now join the forces of thousands of other young girls across America as a single, teenage mom. Within 2 weeks of the birth of their son, Bristol and Levi broke off their engagement. From then on, things seem to go from bad to worse for this couple.

Levi Johnston went on to become the brunt of tabloid journalism, seemingly enjoying it all. His face graced a multitude of magazine covers and he even posed for Playgirl Magazine. He constantly bad mouthed the entire Palin family via the media whenever he had a chance. In the meantime Bristol was back in Wasilla trying to care for her young son Trigg as a single parent with little or no help from his father. She admitted a number of times she used very bad judgment in getting pregnant as a teenager and now totally disapproved of premarital sex.

Levi and Bristol were constantly at each other's throats about issues concerning their beautiful son Trigg. They couldn't agree on visitation, child support and every other issue single parents go through. Immaturity, especially on Levi's part, had a lot to do with this turmoil I feel.

Fast forward now to July 2010. Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston announce their engagement to the world "including their families" via US Weekly. The cover of US Weekly features a young smiling couple and their 18 month old son with the headline "We're Getting Married."

Does Sarah Palin, as a mother have a reason to be concerned? I would think so. The couple is asking for their parents approval and blessings. As Sarah Palin stated in a statement she made, she wants whats best for her daughter and her grandson, but obviously she has her concerns. Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston reconnected only a few weeks ago and now are already making wedding plans. Will this hot, cold, hot again relationship really work? Do they realize that marriage vows are intended to be forever?

Lets all hope and pray for the best for Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin and their son Trigg. Hopefully within the next year or two the cover story on US Weekly won't be that the beautiful young couple from Wasilla, Alaska by the name of Levi and Bristol who are now the parents of two beautiful sons are contemplating a divorce.
