A Mother's Love

Nobody Loves like Mom

Doug Clore
There's one who loves me better than anyone on earth.
She's loved me longer than anyone, from the very moment of birth.
She's seen both my best and magnificent worst, and she loved me just as well
While I was winning some foolish award, or doing my best to break rules.
I don't deserve a mom at all, let alone one as lovely as her,
When throngs of orphans go through life all alone, no Mother, no Father, no home.
I'm surely no better than any of them, yet when I call my Mom, she's there.
Ambiguous thoughts make me sorry for them, yet grateful my pathway was blessed.
I'd not let them have my mom if I could, I'm more than reluctant to share.
One day when mom leaves this life for another, and I join the ranks of the orphans,
With gratitude growing and memories glowing, I'll walk on as if side by side,
And I will rejoice that for so many years, nobody loved me like mom.

During a visit home for Thanksgiving 2006, I joined the ranks of orphans...treasure them while they are here.
