A Mother's Relay

A Tribute to Norma

Sea Shepherd
She holds me for the first time and says "hello".

She tucks me in and says "sleep tight".

She takes care of my scrapes and kisses them well.

She fights my battles, but I say "I can do it!"

She consoles me and says "I'm here for you".

We wept in joy as I walk down the aisle.

She spoils my children, and says, "I'm the grandma!"

I spoil her back and say "I'm the daughter!"

I console her and say "I'm here for you".

I fight her battles, and she says "I can do it!"

I take care of her scrapes and kiss them well.

I tuck her in and say "sleep tight".

I hold her for the last time, and say "goodbye".

This is so touching, Irene. Your mother was a beautiful woman and I know she's with you even if not in bodily form.

Thank you Darlene, Robritt,Amanda, Eiffelvu ..It came to me fast and I'm not a poet but I just realized how funny life is..how we start as being nutured by our mother and then the child becomes the nuturer...so I thought of it as relay..like handing the baton...
