A Natural Cure for Sinus Infections - No Antibiotics Needed

Sinus Rescue Sinus Spray Worked for Me

Pat Burroughs
Every year I have at least one sinus infection, which leads to a bronchial infection, which often leads to a bladder infection. Considering my recent experience with a serious allergic reaction to an antibiotic, I was desperate to find a cure for a sinus infection that didn't involve antibiotics.

A few days ago my husband sprayed the upstairs and the south end of the house that we don't use much, as a precaution against spiders, which are often a problem for us. The spray he used was supposedly safe to use inside, but it had a terrible odor and as soon as I found it necessary to go into a room that he had sprayed, my throat started getting sore. By bedtime I decided I had a doozer of a cold. I don't know whether or not the spray had anything to do with it, but I know that was when my trouble started.

For a couple of days, I had all the symptoms of a cold--sneezing, coughing, eyes watering, nose-blowing, etc. Then it changed to the symptoms of a sinus infection, with the pain and stuffiness across my cheekbones and green, yellow, and bloody drainage. I just felt generally lousy, with some Christmas gifts still to wrap, a big Christmas meal to prepare for my family, and a smaller one for a family who needed it. I washed my hands till they were raw, trying not to give my cold/sinus infection to the rest of the family.

My husband kept telling me to go to the doctor, which I refused to do because I don't want to take antibiotics unless there is no choice. By Christmas day I was so sick I could hardly function. Fortunately, by then I had delivered the meal to the other family, had most of the main meal for our family ready to cook, and my daughter did most of the rest when she got here.

Some of the grandkids were planning to stay with us for a few days, but changed their minds. I guess they decided it would not be a fun time to stay, since I apparently wasn't very good company. The last of the family left a day earlier than planned because they knew I just didn't feel up to cooking, etc. I felt that I had blown the holidays for everyone, although I tried very hard to keep going and pretend I was okay. The fact that I couldn't speak above a whisper might have been a clue that things were not right, as silence is not my strong suit.

The day after Christmas, I remembered a product that had once helped with a sinus infection. I had bought it from the health foods store in the next town, but couldn't remember the name of it. My husband drove up and brought back a bottle of Sinus Rescue Sinus Spray and a bottle of Xlear Nasal Spray with Xylitol. I had used the Xlear in the past, and believe if I would use it all the time I would never have a sinus infection. It is sweet and not unpleasant to use, and can be used as often as desired with no problems.

The Sinus Rescue has Elemental Silver as its only listed active ingredient. I was puzzled by the instructions, which were, "Spray twice up each nostril while inhaling. Repeat every 15 minutes because continual sinus drainage removes Sinus Rescue from the region." I thought that sounded a little extreme, but followed those instructions for an hour or two. By the end of that time, there was no more green or yellow drainage. For the rest of the day I used it when I thought about it, which was several times but certainly not every 15 minutes.

This product was not pleasant to use. I detest nasal sprays in general, and this one is no exception. But it was certainly worth the sacrifice. My improvement was immediate and steady from the first time I used it. It is the first time I have ever recovered from such an infection without taking antibiotics. It has only been three days since I started using it, and I now feel almost 100% improved, where usually by this time I have a bronchial infection going in addition to the sinus infection. I will continue using it a few more days to insure that the infection does not return. And then when I feel that I'm completely over it, I plan to start using the Xlear faithfully, and continue at least through the Spring allergy season.

Some time back when reading up on sinus infections, I read that antibiotics are not as effective against sinus infections as one would hope, as they just can't reach the depth of the sinus cavities where the infection lies. That might explain why some people have so many recurrences. The article recommended using a nasal wash to remove the infection. I can highly recommend Sinus Rescue for that purpose.

Sinus Rescue Sinus Spray is made by Peaceful Mountain, Inc. of Boulder, CO. As I said, I found it at our local health foods store, but it can be ordered by going to www.PeacefulMountain.com or calling the company at 1-888-303-3388.

This site also helps readers locate a store in their area that sells Peaceful Mountain products. If ordering from the site, a 1.5 ounce bottle is $11.95, or 4 bottles (3 plus 1 free) cost $35.85. I'm thinking I may order 4 bottles and share them with other family members who often have sinusitis.

At the health foods store, the Xlear cost $6.99 for .75 ounce, which lasts for quite a while. It might be more economical to buy a larger bottle (1.5 oz.) for $8.69 (VitaCost), but I prefer to buy the smaller one. That way if I come down with a cold, I can buy a new bottle to start out with when I get over the cold, to avoid recontaminating myself with the spray bottle.

I'm so happy that I discovered these two products, especially the Sinus Rescue, and hope others will find them as helpful as I did.
