A Nature Outing

Julia Bodeeb
A neighbor many decades older than me and I giggle on the phone
and laugh like little girls sometimes when we discuss life.

I value her wisdom and the wit she brings to life.
She has lived long and mentored many younger people.

We have bonded over blackouts, storms, unusual occurrences
and the various unexpected events of life that never stop.

Today, as the New Year approaches we sit by the ocean to talk
then we visit the lake and sit in silence as the church bells peal.

The swans are out on the cold water, floating gracefully and
adding an air of elegance to the rugged nature of the lake.

Nature is so beautiful here and has helped me through
all of the losses while I've lived here and I am so grateful.

Thanks for sharing. I live in a rural setting and the peace of mind I have found here is beyond words.
