A Shoot Out was needed to settle the 0-0 score.
The two goalies would continue their dominance in the shoot out stopping the first three shooters in rounds one to three and Brouduer would stop the Rangers in round four as P. Elias would beat Lundqvist to end the game in the same round for the 1-0 win.
Both Goalies were credited with the shut out in this classic game.
The Garden would respond all night to the Rangers heart filled game especially when they killed off a 5 on 3 New Jersey power play. You could feel the emotion in the building.
Brouder would make his biggest stop of the night stopping B. Boyle on breakaway in period two.
Coach John Tortorella was proud of his bunch saying we played a hell of a game. Happy with hard earned point we need to start getting the second one soon.
96 total shots were registered in the game with Lundqvist stopping a career high 45 and Broduer turning aside 51.
Broduer added another shut out to his record breaking career now at 107 breaking his own record with every shut out he gets.
With the Devils win they move within two points of the leagues best Chicago Black Hawks while they sit a top the Easter Conference and the Atlantic Division.
The Rangers get a much deserved point in the Over Time loss and proved they can skate with one of the leagues elite teams.
The Ranges are now 8-1-4 over their last 13 games. They have gotten points out of their last seven games and are currently tied for fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 51 points.
The Rangers next match up is tonight against Ottawa in another big game as the two teams are only separated by three points. The Devils head over to Phoenix to play the Coyotes.
