because the hand me down princess just admitted she's not real.
Let me light up your life with a love that doesn't call for blame.
It's the feelings more than the memories that make us all the same.
"Don't walk in that graveyard,"
said the man from afar.
"Your beloved is no longer there, but you can still be who you are."
Just place your love by the carnival horse drawn stone,
and I'll steal a moment to make sure you don't feel alone.
And if you have a nickel's worth of wisdom,
maybe you could share a bit with me.
I always believed she'd come back and be my love.
The deepest roots somehow make the strongest tree.
I couldn't save the bird as it lay dying on the ground,
so don't judge me too harshly for my melancholy sound.
Just leave me in my pain as she walks away,
for the fragments of my caring will always have their say.
The fragments of my caring will always have their say.
And if you have a nickel's worth of wisdom,
maybe you could share a bit with me.
I always believed she'd come back and be my love.
The deepest roots somehow make the strongest tree.

The fragments are only proof that it wasn't meant to be. Hopefully the fragments don't clutter up the path to real love.
