A Niece's Chocolate Uncle!

Deepak

She is dusky and pretty. She is very charming. She has sparkling and round twinkling eyes. Her eyes are such as they are saying something. Her innocent face always invites my attention. Whenever I meet her, I always give her a big bar of chocolate. As soon as she gets hold of it, she would give me a broad grin and smile. Her face would become radiant, as she has got her biggest gift in the world. Her facial expressions would say - 'Thank you' before she could convey it verbally. She would immediately give me a 'warm hug' on receiving her much loved chocolate. Thereafter, she would unwrap the chocolate and would start munching it. Chocolates are her favorites since her childhood.

One day I called at her residence. She picked up the receiver of the phone and said - "Hello". I asked - "who is there"? She did not reply. I did neither tell her nor gave her a hint, who I was. She just handed over the phone to her mother. I could hear from my handset - her mother asking her - 'who is there'? She gleefully said - it is 'Chocolate Uncle'. Her mother also could not understand for a moment, who could be I. Then she gathered her wits and guessed who was I. Then she (her mother) told me that - her daughter just guessed from my voice that it was the uncle, who always offers her favorite chocolates. I was pleasantly surprised and taken aback by her smartness.

It was perhaps for the first time that she picked up the phone and heard my voice. I was wondering how could she recognize me, without me disclosing my identity. But the words she uttered for my identification - 'Chocolate Uncle', just touched my heart deeply. No one has ever called me as - 'Chocolate Uncle'. So I became her 'Chocolate Uncle' forever. Whenever, I wish to hear her innocent, sweet and tender voice, I just make a phone call. She would come on line, would hear my voice and immediately announces to her mother - "Mama! It is 'Chocolate Uncle' on the line with her sweet laughter. I feel so thrilled and excited to hear her calling me - 'Chocolate Uncle'. It feels really great. So now it has become a mandatory practice for me to take chocolates, whenever I go and meet her. Seeing me and a chocolate in my hand, her face gleams like a 1000-watt bulb, as she is going to get all the happiness in this world through the bar of chocolate.

Sometimes, I call her, she is not in a mood to talk to me, her mother would ask her to talk to me, but she would not oblige. After few minutes, she would come on line unwillingly, then I tell her - "dear' I am going to come and see you soon and I will bring a big bar of chocolate for you". Interestingly, my words do wonder to her, she would forget crying and would say - "Uncle, when are you coming"? Even if I am not going, I arrange to send her a bar of chocolate through someone else, so that she could always remember me and could always call me 'Chocolate Uncle'. It sounds so sweet to be called as 'Chocolate Uncle'.

She is just three years old. She is the sweet daughter of my Brother-in-Law. So whenever I visit her - she shouts - OH! Mummy! 'Chocolate Uncle' has come and she would immediately rush towards me and would give me a warm hug me and would anticipate that she is going to be offered a bar of chocolate. I simply love her and her innocent ways of addressing me as 'Chocolate Uncle'. May God bless her!
