A Not so Scary Night

It all happened upon a not so scary night
where bats howled and wolves took flight

the pumpkins tried, but couldn't scare
and all the ghosts wore funny hair

witches' wouldn't brew, but they baked
small funny cookies and fruit cake

black cats were no longer dark
they were grey with white marks

and even all the vampires switched
from blood to Kool-Aid mix

although there was plenty of candy, none were sweet
so trick or treaters had tricks, but no treats

delicious looking carmel apples, had no taste
puffy popcorn balls, that were all fake

why won't the ghouls come out to play
nothing seems right, like a topsy turvy holiday

but the only thing missing is all the fright
and it all happened on halloween night
